Gauze bandage is a kind of common medical supplies in clinical medicine, often used for dressing wounds or affected places, necessary for surgery. The simplest is a single shed band, made of gauze or cotton, for the extremities, tail, head, chest and abdomen. Bandages are various shapes of bandages made according to parts and shapes. The material is double cotton, with cotton of different thickness sandwiched between them. Strips of cloth surround them for tying and fastening, such as eye bandages, waistband bandages, front bandages, stomach bandages and Withers bandages. Special bandages are used for fixation of limbs and joints. After the human body is injured, gauze bandage is mostly used to wrap the wound, mainly because gauze bandage has good air permeability and soft material, which is more suitable for fixing dressings, pressurizing hemostasis, suspending limbs and fixing joints.
1. Protect the wound. Gauze bandage has good air permeability. After the wound dressing is finished, using gauze bandage to fix the dressing can avoid wound infection and secondary bleeding of the wound.
2. Fixation. Gauze bandages are materials that hold dressings in place, control bleeding, immobilize and support the wound and reduce swelling, immobilize and protect the site of surgery or injury. When the patient of fracture uses gauze bandage, make fracture, joint dislocation place is restricted, but make bone fast heal.
3. Relieve pain. After the use of gauze bandage, the wound can be compressed to stop bleeding, which increases the comfort of patients to a certain extent, thus relieving pain of patients.
Method of Use
1. Gauze bandage before wrapping bandage:
① Explain to the injured person what he is going to do and comfort him constantly.
② Sit or lie down comfortably.
③Hold up the wound (by the injured person or a helper)
④ Place the bandage in front of the casualty as far as possible, starting from the injured side.
2.gauze bandage when wrapping bandage:
①If the injured person is lying down, the bandage should be wound under natural depressions such as between the steps, knees, waist and neck. Gently pull the bandage forward and back up and down to straighten it. Wrap the neck and upper torso using the neck depression to pull the torso down to the correct position.
②When wrapping bandages, the degree of tightness should be in accordance with the principle of preventing bleeding and fixing dressings, but not too tight, so as not to obstruct the blood circulation at the extremities.
③If limbs are bound, fingers and toes should be exposed as much as possible in order to check blood circulation.
④Make sure the knot does not cause pain. A flat knot should be used, tucking the end of the bandage into the knot and not tying it where the bone protrudes.
⑤Check the blood circulation of the lower limbs regularly and release it if necessary.
3.When using bandages to fix injured limbs:
①Put soft pads between the injured limb and the body, or between the feet (especially the joints). Use towels, cotton or folded clothing as pads, and then apply bandages to prevent displacing the broken bone.
②Bandage the gap near the limb and avoid the wound as much as possible.
③The bandage knot should be tied in front of the uninjured side, and bone protrusion should be avoided as far as possible. If the victim is injured on both sides of the body, the knot should be tied centrally. This is the least chance of causing further injury.
There are a lot of attention to the use of methods, if not attention and attention, it is easy to make mistakes. So in the process of operation, the doctor and the injured should cooperate with each other in order to achieve good fixation and treatment effect.
